NDLEA Finds Banned Drug Inside Hair Attachment

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered 3kg of methamphetamine hidden inside a luggage containing female hair attachment.
The Spokesman for the agency, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, made this known in a statement he issued in Lagos and made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.
Ofoyeju said that NDLEA officials detected the drug at the Cargo Section of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja.
He said that the banned drug was meant for export to South Africa, adding that the agency had already arrested a 37-year-old freight forwarder in connection with that.
“We have arrested a 37-year-old forwarding agent (name withheld), who brought a consignment of female artificial hair for shipment to South Africa.
“During examination of the bag, nine of the packs were found to contain parcels of substance that tested positive for methamphetamine hidden inside the artificial hair.
“During interrogation, the suspect claimed he collected the bag containing the drug at Yaba, Lagos, from his friend who is also his customer.
“He claimed he was paid to send the bag to South Africa as an unaccompanied cargo.
“He is currently being investigated; he will be charged to court soon,”NDLEA-Logo1
