The minister of Justice who was expected to be present at the hearing on the allegations of forgery leveled against the leadership of the Senate and some of its key members, was said to be out of the country and was therefore represented by the special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, on prosecution, Okoi Obono-Obla.
Below are some tweets by the senators:
Senate president, Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, alongside two other top officers of the National Assembly were early this week, charged to court over allegations of forgery of its standing rules and the AGF was summoned on Tuesday, June 21.
The Senate resolved to mandate its committee on judiciary to summon the AGF “to explain and to justify with evidence the basis for his act and to explain why it does not constitute incompetence, gross misconduct, contempt of court and abuse of office.”
