NDLEA Finds Banned Drug Inside Hair Attachment

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered 3kg of methamphetamine hidden inside a luggage containing female hair attachment.
The Spokesman for the agency, Mr Mitchel Ofoyeju, made this known in a statement he issued in Lagos and made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday.
Ofoyeju said that NDLEA officials detected the drug at the Cargo Section of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja.
He said that the banned drug was meant for export to South Africa, adding that the agency had already arrested a 37-year-old freight forwarder in connection with that.
“We have arrested a 37-year-old forwarding agent (name withheld), who brought a consignment of female artificial hair for shipment to South Africa.
“During examination of the bag, nine of the packs were found to contain parcels of substance that tested positive for methamphetamine hidden inside the artificial hair.
“During interrogation, the suspect claimed he collected the bag containing the drug at Yaba, Lagos, from his friend who is also his customer.
“He claimed he was paid to send the bag to South Africa as an unaccompanied cargo.
“He is currently being investigated; he will be charged to court soon,”NDLEA-Logo1

9 Soldiers Feared Dead In Boko Haram Ambush

Boko Haram terrorists
A deadly ambush in the border areas of Izhe in Madagali Local Government of Adamawa state, by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect has led to the death of at least 9 soldiers.
Chairman of Madagali, Mr Maina Ularamu, who confirmed the incident said that the soldiers were on a mission to repel an attack, but could not ascertain the number of casualty.
“The soldiers were going to repel a planned attack at Izhe border village when they were ambushed by the heavily armed insurgents.
“As I am talking to you, most villagers at the border areas have since fled to Madagali the administrative headquarters for fear of possible attacks.
“We are calling on the government to station more troops with armoured tanks. These Boko Haram insurgents have more sophisticated weapons than the soldiers,” said Ularamu.
Armed with anti-aircraft and anti-tank weapons which were mounted on their vehicles, the insurgents would easily defeat soldiers if more troops with more sophisticated weapons are not sent to the area, according to the chairman.

Redeemed Church To Build A University, Sports Complex, Golf Course In Texas

For centuries, European and American missionaries have gone to Africa to spread the word of Christ. That trend is now working in reverse, with a Nigerian minister in Texas who plans to build churches as numerous as Starbucks coffee shops.
_72920414_untitled-2Drive an hour north-east of Dallas, and you will find yourself staring off into a barren, flat horizon. One out-of-place building rises above the landscape: a 10,000-seat auditorium. It is the centrepiece for the Redeemed Christian Church of God in North America.
It is one of Africa’s largest and most influential Christian movements, claiming more than five million followers worldwide, mostly in Nigeria. Pastor James Fadele, who runs the Church in North America, said God told the Church’s leader Enoch Adeboye that its North American headquarters would be founded near Dallas – but not where, and not when.

Then, Fadele (pictured above) said, a white man in Texas had a vision. “God told him, ‘The land doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to a group of church people,’” Fadele said. “‘When you meet them, I will let you know who they are.’”
Fadele, a short man with a booming voice, said a few Redeemed Church members were eating at a local restaurant when they were approached by the white man.
The man told them God had asked him to buy a patch of land, but that the Church was the owner. “They accepted it, they paid the check, and the rest, as they say, is history,” said Fadele with a laugh.
The Redeemed Church plans to build a university, sports complex and golf course on its land near Dallas That divine spot is Floyd, Texas, an unincorporated community with a population of 220. Church leaders have grand plans for the property, which now spans 700 acres (283ha): a university, sports complex, even a golf course.
Fadele radiates with excitement describing his vision for future events at the auditorium: “Crazy people for Jesus, people who are in love with Jesus, shouting ‘hallelujah’, praising Jesus, having prayer vigils, having fun, giving each other high-fives.”
Fadele’s goal is to establish a church within every 10 miles (16km) in North America, to take as many people as possible to heaven. “Because heaven is real, God is real,” he said. “And that is why we want to plant churches like Starbucks.”

Jonathan Names Oduah, Others Replacements

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday dropped four ministers to enable them to pursue their respective political and economic interests, the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, said.
Maku made the disclosure when he briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, chaired by President Goodluck JonathanSacked-Ministers-480x300.
The minister said that those affected include Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, Minister of Niger Delta, Mr Godsday Orubebe, Minister of Police Affairs, Retired Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade and Minister of State for Finance, Alhaji Yerima Ngama.
Maku added that the President had also announced further changes in the Federal Executive Council.
He noted that a number of ministers had been asked to step out of the Federal Executive council to pursue their interest.
The information minister said the President had appointed the Minister of State for FCT, Ms Olajumoke Akinjide as Supervising Minister of Police Affairs and the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Mr Samuel Ortom as Supervising Minister of Aviation.
He said the President also directed the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Darius Ishaku to take charge as Supervising Minister of the Ministry, while the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo -Iweala should take charge of the functions of the Minister of State for Finance.
Maku noted that the President asked the affected ministers to leave after they had indicated interest to pursue further goals in political and economic affairs in the country.
He seized the opportunity to correct the erroneous report in the media that the former Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadhome, was sacked by the President because of alleged involvement in purported scam in the NNPC.
Maku said the report was false and misleading, adding that Oghiadhome resigned his appointment to pursue further interest in politics.
“If the Office of the Chief of Staff does not supervise NNPC, it has no direct correlation with the work of the NNPC.
“If he had left because of the purported scam in NNPC, it would suggest that there must have been some people in NNPC that would have been involved and sacked too”.
He added that the Council discussed the outcome of the 2013 annual conference of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, which deliberated on the nation’s agricultural sector.
