Akwa Ibom Govt. Needs N50b To Tackle Flood, Says Commissioner

flood akwa ibom
The Commissioner for Environment in Akwa Ibom, Mr Enobong Uwah, has said that the state government needs N50 billion to effectively tackle the problem of flood in the state.
Uwah, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo on Sunday, said that the state government had requested for fund from the Federal Government to check the menace.
“We are already making moves to access the ecological fund. Meanwhile, the state government has started intervening, especially as it concerns damage caused by last year’s flooding in the state.
“If you go to Brooks Street, you will appreciate the work the state government is doing to check gully erosion threatening to eat up the area,” he said.
Uwah said that the damage caused by flooding in the state was on the increase, attributing it to the flouting of environmental laws by residents, who built houses on waterways.
The commissioner said that the state government would demolish such buildings to check flooding in the state.
He also call on the people to stop dumping refuse in culverts constructed to ease the flow of water, adding that such habit would only compound the problem.

SHOCKING AND STRANGE: These Nigerian Communities Worship Giant Pythons As their Gods

As odd as it may sound to people who aren’t familiar with any other religion apart from Christianity or Islam, there are communities in Nigeria that place snakes as their gods

Capture
An example of such communities where residents still regard python as one of their gods is Mgbidi, the headquarters of Oru West local government area of Imo State. Mgbidi is made up of eleven communities including Imeoha, Eziali, Umuekwe, Okwudor , Umuorji, Umuokpara, Umuehi , Umuabiahu, Uziaumu , Ihitte and Ugbele.
In a chat with one of the priests who identified himself as Ngozi Obiwuru, he boasted that no amount of civilization can change that part of their culture; worshipping of python. “Several churches have come to deliver this community but have failed to stop the worship of snakes. I used to be a Christian before my father whom I inherited this job from died. I had to relocate to the village and learn the traditions of our people.
“If you mistakenly kill a snake, you will simply appease the gods or face the consequences. There was a particular case, the man called all kinds of pastors to pray for his family, at the end of the day he came to me and performed the sacrifice. It dawned on him that it was not a joke when his three kids died mysteriously.
“Several churches have been advised to stay away from that part of our religion. We welcome the fact that they have brought a lot of development in our area, but the fact remains that no one can force us to abandon what we believe in.”
To appease the gods, Obiwuru said: “It is very simple. The individual will buy a white coffin, white cock, goat and will come to the shrine for sacrifice. The coffin will be used to bury the snake. These snakes do not bite anyone; it is a sign of blessing if it chooses to visit your family at night.   It is an honour to have a god in your home, just as the Christians rejoice when they spot an angel in their homes.
“One of my close relatives tried it. He came back from the city, and told me that he has just finished seven days fasting. To try the potency of his prayers, he said would kill as many pythons as he could lay his hands on. He actually went to the bush to find one. Today, my brother is dead and buried and no one can explain what happened to him.”
Just as he claimed that python is a sacred animal, Obiwuru also warned visitors to steer clear of Obana River. “It is a taboo for an indigene or visitor to kill a fish in the river.  If a visitor unknowingly takes it away, he or she will not be affected.

White Lady Agrees to Séx with This Naija Guy; Then Sue Him for Not Using Condom

Some ladies are just crazy and the guy too, why not stick to the agreement before action? Lol...

A Nigerian from Bayelsa, Imomotimi Wilson, is standing trial for refusing to use condom on the third rounds of séx he had with a woman he picked in the club. Below is how Daily Mail is reporting the story:
A man on trial for rapé for allegedly refusing to wear a condom on the third time he had séx with a woman in a one-night stand has told the jury it was 100 per cent consensual.
Imomotimi Wilson, 30, met the woman in a pub and she agreed to go back to his house but told him she would only have séx with him if he used protection.
They had consensual séx twice but on the third occasion she claims that Wilson failed to use a condom.
The woman, a 40-year-old, said Wilson treated her 'like a piece of meat'. She said he held her hands over her head and told her 'if you love me you'll do it' before raping her for 15-20 seconds.
But giving evidence at his trial at Cambridge Crown Court, Imomotimi Wilson said, "she said stop and that's when I stopped'.
According to him: "She said 'I feel like having séx again' and I said "Yes, I feel like having séx with you as well again but there is no condom".
"She was romancing me, touching and kissing, and I said 'no, I do not want to do that because there is no condom'.
"She started kissing me again and then I penetrated her. I believed 100 percent it was consensual. Then she said 'stop' and that's when I stopped. There were three seconds of penetration."
The court heard how the pair met at The Regal pub in Cambridge on June 9 last year and took a taxi back to Wilson's shared house in the city at 2am.
She then spent most of the evening in bed with the defendant before leaving the property at around 6am. She called police later that afternoon and Wilson was arrested.
Caroline Allison, prosecuting, said: 'The prosecution say that she had made it perfectly clear in plain straight-forward language that the situation was no condom, no séx and that nothing had happened in the intervening period that would invite a reasonable belief that she was indeed consenting to unprotected séx.'
Wilson has pleaded not guilty to rapé. The trial continues.
I just hope this guy wont land in prison because of three seconds of penetration. Oyinbo country wahala.

STRANGE: Secondary School Students Threaten To Kill Corpers In Kogi (PHOTOS)

NYSC batch A Corp members are living in fear over the threat made by secondary school students to kill Corpers serving in Kogi state.

Here how a serving corper in Victory Model College, Efodo - Okpo, Olamaboro L.G.A of Kogi State reports it:
It's no good news to hear that NYSC Corp Members are treated with discontentment in Kogi State, especially in remote local government like Olamaboro.
There have been cases of some drunk youths ganging up to launch attack on corpers at their capital project sites, accusing them of integrating strange norms into their culture
Let me go straight to what I witnessed this morning. I woke up this morning like every other boring mornings in the village where I serve, dressed up, and went to the school. On arrival, all the students were gathered at one corner looking at me and the other Corp members, some with satisfaction, while others with pity.
On getting to the class rooms, we saw some write-ups directly warning me and other three(3) batch A Corp members.
Four(4)  of us (batch A) and two (2) other batch C corpers are on hide out, praying God to intervene on the issue.
Batch A passing out parade (POP) comes up on the  13th of February, and the question is why would people whose lives we have impacted for close to one year decide to reward us with death threats?
