Banker who allegedly stole ex-DIG’s N30m granted bail
The Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday varied the bail conditions
of a former Branch Manager of First City Monument Bank, Rosemary Usifo,
charged with N30 million fraud.
Usifo and the bank were arraigned by the police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) on December 5 last year.
The prosecution alleged that the accused defrauded a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Archibong Nkanga, by allegedly obtaining N30 million from his fixed deposit account.
The offence is contrary to sections 1(2) (a), (c), and 3 (1) (2) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap. M17, Laws of the Federation, 2004, the police said.
Justice Saliu Saidu had granted the accused bail for N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties, he said, must be a blood relation and must own a
landed property in Lagos; the other surety must be a public or civil
servant of grade level 15 and above.
The judge ordered the suspect’s remand at the Kirikiri prisons pending the perfection of her bail terms.
The defence counsel, Mr. Olu Akanbi, on Monday moved a motion seeking a variation of the bail conditions.
He prayed the court to do away with the condition that one of sureties must be a property owner.
Prosecution counsel, M. Susan, did not oppose the application.
Justice Saidu, who would soon relocate to Port Harcourt having been transferred to the city, granted Usifo bail for N10 million with two sureties in like sum.
One of the sureties, he said, must be a public or civil servant of grade level 15 serving with either the Federal or Lagos State government.

Mikel Right to move to China
Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Salisu Yusuff has disclosed that former
Chelsea of England midfielder, John Mikel Obi was right to move to the
Chinese Super League(CSL) judging by his experience with the Stamford
Bridge landlords since the beginning of the season.
Yusuff told SportingLife that it was not proper for Mikel Obi not to
be playing the sport he enjoys regularly and that he would always
support any decision taken by the ex-Lyn Oslo midfielder for him to
play regular football again.
He said the wealth of experience of Mikel Obi would still be needed by
the Eagles and that he won’t be able to give that if he is not playing
regularly for his team.
Yusuff also hinted that he was delighted with the switch of Wilfred
Ndidi to Leicester City of England from the Belgian side, RKC Genk
while asserting that the Eagles’ utility player would be a better
player under Claudio Ranieri in the EPL.

END OF THE ROAD!!! See How This Igbo Man Was Caught With Cocaine At Abuja Airport, Where He Hide it will shock you
A South-easterner has been indicted in a major drug deal running into million cash in an intelligently plotted deal.
Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja have discovered parcels of whitish substance that tested positive for cocaine weighing 9.15kg inside the soles of shoes.
The discovery was made in a shipment of shoes during the inward screening of passengers on a Turkish Airline flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The cocaine was industrially concealed in the soles of new foot wears.

It was the last arrest of 2016 at the Abuja airport, with an estimated value of £3.8 million in Europe. The Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Colonel Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd), said the huge profit derived from drug trafficking has made it a top priority for drug cartels to be financially incapacitated.
Abdallah said: “We must continue to take deliberate steps to intercept drugs and ultimately prevent the criminal enrichment of drug cartels.
“Illicit drug proceeds negatively affect economic development, could be used to corrupt government officials and terrorism funding thereby subjecting mankind to widespread destruction.”

The NDLEA commander at the Abuja airport, Hamisu Lawan, said an arrest was made during the inward screening of passengers and luggage on a Turkish Airline flight from Brazil.
Lawan said: “There was an arrest at the weekend of a 34-year-old suspect, Okolo Emenike Kingsley, who hails from Ezeagu, Enugu State.
“The motorcycle parts dealer said that he was offered the sum of N1 million to smuggle the drugs to Nigeria.
“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect is cooperating with our team of undercover officers.”
In the words of the suspect: “I am a motorcycle parts dealer, married with a child.
“My business was failing due to recession, so I travelled to Brazil in search of employment.
“Things became worse for me in Brazil because I had no money to sustain myself while my work permit was being processed.
“I was equally confronted with the fear of deportation.
“This made me to be desperate in my search for quick wealth.
“In the process, I met my childhood friend who offered me N1 million to traffic cocaine to Nigeria.
“He also paid for my ticket and gave me three bag of shoes containing the cocaine.
“On arrival at the Abuja airport, the cocaine was detected and I was arrested.
“I had wanted to invest the N1 million in business in Nigeria.”
REAL REASON !!! Why Super Eagles Player, Mikel Obi Rejects Big China Move for Valencia
John Obi Mikel has chosen to stay in Europe instead of going to China, according to reports surrounding his imminent exit from Chelsea. The midfielder has been frozen out at Chelsea by Antonio Conte and a move abroad was inevitable. Valencia is the team he will join this January after signing a four-year deal with the La Liga club. Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, Marseille and Serie A giants AC and Inter Milan were all interested in the Nigeria captain. The reason he has opted to move to Spain is unknown.
There won’t be a transfer fee involved as Mikel only has six months left on his contract and the Blues would prefer to release him to get him off the wage bill. He leaves Stamford Bridge after 11 seasons. During that time he won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League once.
It’s a seriously impressive haul. With Chelsea six points clear at the top of the Premier League and on a 13-match, record-equalling winning sequence, opportunities for his return to the matchday squad appear slim. Valencia’s sporting director, Jesus Garcia Pitarch, confirmed the club’s interest in Mikel.
“In the case of Obi Mikel, I met with him in London on Christmas Day or the day before,” Pitarch said in quotes reported by Super Deporte. “I asked permission with Chelsea to meet with him and gave him this possibility. “He told me that he would think about it and now it is a situation to assess.” Mikel has also held “advanced talks” with Marseille, according to Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr.
