The footage shared online shows rescuers appearing to shout “Pietro” down a gap where the young girl was trapped.
Footage shows just the dust-covered legs of the youngster as emergency crews tried desperately to free her from the rubble.
One rescuer could be heard saying:
‘You can hear something under here. Quiet, quiet.’ He then urged the child to wriggle free one rescue worker said: ‘Come on, Giulia, come on, Giulia. … Watch your head.’

Cheers broke out when she was pulled out Rescuers frantically pushed away the remains of rubble from the child and eventually, they were able to pull her out alive to the relief and applause of an on-looking crowd. They rushed her to the hospital but her condition wasn’t revealed by Daily Express.

Michelle Obama’s interview with Variety magazine is a must read

The US First Lady sat down with Variety magazine to talk Pop Culture and how her husband used that to make an impact…of course among other things she said. Read below from Variety
Ten days before delivering the best-received speech at the Democratic National Convention, first lady Michelle Obama was in her East Wing office describing an entirely different appearance she was about to make that was poised to have an equally notable impact.

This story first appeared in the August 23, 2016 issue of Variety. Subscribe today.
That was Carpool Karaoke, the insanely popular segment on CBS’ “Late Late Show,” in which she sat in the passenger seat with host James Corden and belted out renditions of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours,” Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On” as they circled the driveway on the South Lawn.
“First of all, I was riding in a car with somebody else, without the Secret Service,” she says, with more than a hint of glee. “So right there, [I said], ‘Let’s keep driving!’ I think we drove around the South Lawn about 100 times.”
michelle-obama-variety-cover-story-by-art-streiber1
Below are a few quotes from her cover story…
1. Despite being First Lady, she views herself as an average woman who’s in tune with pop culture.
“I view myself as being the average woman,” she says. “While I am first lady, I wasn’t first lady my whole life. I’m a product of pop culture. I’m a consumer of pop culture, and I know what resonates with people. I know what they’ll get a chuckle out of and what they think is kind of silly. And whenever my team approaches me with ideas and concepts, we’re usually like, ‘Is this really funny? Are people going to understand it?’”
2. When she’s being silly and making people laugh, she also has a message behind it.
“What I have never been afraid of is to be a little silly, and you can engage people that way,” Obama says in an interview with Variety in her upstairs White House office, decorated in an eclectic mix of abstract art and framed mementos from her tenure. “My view is, first you get them to laugh, then you get them to listen. So I’m always game for a good joke, and I’m not so formal in this role. There’s very little that we can’t do that people wouldn’t appreciate.”
3. In order to gain awareness to her initiatives, she came to where the people are.
Obama explains that as she launched the initiatives, she knew it would take “reaching people where they lived on a day-to-day basis, and the next step was, ‘How do you do that? Where are the people?’ Well, they’re not reading the op-ed pieces in the major newspapers. They’re not watching Sunday morning news talk shows. They’re doing what most people are doing: They are watching TV.”
She adds: “A lot of our audiences are kids and teens, and they want to be in on the joke. And they’ll listen again. We’re just a little looser with this stuff than most traditional first ladies.”
4. While she doesn’t have a budget, she still gets the job done.
“It has been wonderful having the platform of the first lady’s office. But if you sort of look at who we are, we don’t have a budget. We don’t have congressional authority. But I still believe we managed to have impact on these issues, which sort of sets the foundation to think, ‘Gosh, we can do a lot, even when we’re not here, just with the power of public awareness.’ ”
5. FLOTUS loves entertainment, but feels it’s crucial to add diversity in Hollywood.
“For so many people, television and movies may be the only way they understand people who aren’t like them,” she says. “And when I come across many little black girls who come up to me over the course of this 7½ years with tears in their eyes, and they say: ‘Thank you for being a role model for me. I don’t see educated black women on TV, and the fact that you’re first lady validates who I am….’”
She adds, “My mom says it all the time: ‘People are so enamored of Michelle and Barack Obama.’ And she says, ‘There are millions of Michelle and Barack Obamas.’ We’re not new. We’re not special. People who come from intact families who are educated, who have values, who care for their kids, who raise their kids — if you don’t see that on TV, and you don’t live in communities with people like me, you never know who we are, and you can make and be susceptible to all sorts of assumptions and stereotypes and biases, based on nothing but what you see and hear on TV. So it becomes very important for the world to see different images of each other, so that, again, we can develop empathy and understanding.”
She calls diversity in entertainment “critical,” because she sees the industry as being able to influence perceptions, in the way that viewers in the ’70s “developed a love for Archie Bunker and empathy for George Jefferson.”
“There are folks who now know black families — like the Johnsons on ‘Black-ish’ or the folks on ‘Modern Family.’ They become part of who you are. You share their pains. You understand their fears. They make you laugh, and they change how you see the world. And that is particularly true in a country where there are still millions of people who live in communities where they can live their whole lives not having contact or exposure with people who aren’t like them, whether that is race or religion or simply lifestyle. The only way that millions of people get to know other folks and the way they live … is through the power of television and movies.”

Sanusi to Buhari: Continue this way and you would end up where Jonathan ended

Emir of Kano, Sanusi Muhammad II, says President Buhari could end up the way the Goodluck Jonathan administration ended up if he continues in the manner he is presently managing the country.
He said this while delivering a lecture at the ongoing 15th meetings of the joint planning board and national council on development planning in Kano, titled ‘Nigeria in search of new growth model’ today August 24th.
“If we do not expand the economy through wise investment, we can end up in classical Malthusian situation. If this government continues to behave the way the past government behaved, we will end up where Jonathan ended.”
Sanusi who was former CBN governor, said to get out of this present economic recession, the FG must set the foreign exchange rate to incentivise capital inflows, catalyse Foreign Direct Investment and Foreign Direct Investment Funding.

‘Se x with him was hot, he has the body of a champion but his male parts don’t match’- Usain Bolt’s Rio student lover says

Jady Duarte, the girl who shared snaps of Usain Bolt cuddling and kissing her in bed while in Rio during his birthday celebrations has now revealed that the Olympic champion wooed her after flashing his toned muscles and six packs but that ‘down there’ he’s not really as endowed as everyone thinks.
Jady also revealed that he doesn’t speak Portuguese, so he had to use google translate to communicate with her and whisked her into his hotel room in the games village using a team bus.
According to her, they allegedly made love in a small single bed, while listening to Rihanna’s ‘Work work’ and the se x reportedly lasted over two one-hour sessions.

According to Jady they met in Rio’s upmarket club All In, and Bolt made his way over to her group of friends, before he flashed his impressive six-pack.
“He was stood in front of us and suddenly he pulled up his shirt and showed us his six pack,” Jady, Mother of two told Mail Online. “I had never seen anything like it. I just had to reach out and stroke it.”
Bolt then reportedly asked his bodyguard to invite her over to join him, and while she was hesitant at first, she eventually met him again at the end of the night.
‘He’s dark, tall, muscly – just my type – but there were so many beautiful girls there I never imagined I would be the one. The bodyguard said Bolt wants you to come over. I didn’t go at first because I was playing hard to get. Most girls would go over there like a shot but I wanted to make him work. When I was waiting in line to pay at the end of the night he sent the bodyguard over again. He said “why are you not following him? This is Usain Bolt”.
But the pair bypassed security by hopping on to an official bus that was quickly waved through the gates.
‘They never asked me for any sort of pass or my ID,’ said the young Brazilian beauty. They didn’t even question him, I guess, because he’s Bolt. We had two other guys with us and I think they were athletes because they also had muscly, fit bodies.I was surprised that he didn’t take me to an expensive hotel but I didn’t pay much attention because we were kissing the entire way.
‘The room was tidy but he had two single beds and they were so small that his feet must have been poking out the end when he slept.’
‘It was mainly just small talk and him telling me how beautiful I was,’ she said. ‘We used Google but I didn’t need a translator to tell me that he wanted sex.
“Finally we were waiting in line for a taxi and he smiled at me and did the famous victory pose so I was in no doubt who he was,” she added. “That’s was when I decided it was time to give in to him. He pulled me into the taxi and gave me an incredible kiss. It was very passionate and hot – we were devouring one another. He has the body of a champion although his male parts do not match – he is just like a regular guy,” she claimed.
usain-braz-girl1
She claims Bolt then gave her a 100 Euro bank note to get a taxi, and promised to call her to arrange another date during the Paralympics.
“I really thought we had something going, But now I can see that he picks up women as quickly as he picks up gold medals. I knew who he was from TV. My mother has been screaming during all his races because she’s such a huge fan,’

Religious crisis: All the people burnt to death were muslims- Zamfara state gov

While condemning the religious crisis that broke out in the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in Talata Mafara in the state on Tuesday which resulted in the death of eight people, the state governor, Abdulaziz Yari, yesterday disclosed that all those killed during the attack were Muslims. Narrating what led to the attack to state House corespondents after his meeting with President Buhari yesterday August 24th, Governor said:
“From the intelligence I heard from the security agencies, there was a fight between two students and I think one of them injured the other and started shouting that the other person abused Prophet Muhammed. Other students came and beat the other boy who is Yoruba and from Kogi State. Some people are saying he was a Muslim and some say the boy was a Christian. They beat the student until he collapsed and thought he was dead. Then security personnel requested help from one shop owner who then took the boy to the hospital in his car. When the students heard that the boy was still alive and in the hospital, they went to the hospital. But the boy was rescued by the army in the hospital.
Then the students went back to the polytechnic and burnt down the shop of the person who gave his car to rescue the boy. They went back to town again and as you know the police in the division don’t have enough men to contain the riot and before reinforcement came, the crowd threw tyre in the man’s house and burnt the house down. That was how everybody in the house was killed and everybody killed in the House were Muslims and not like the rumours going around in the social media that Christians are being killed in Zamfara.
Infact the mob wanted to go and burn churches and attack non- Muslims but the security forces stopped them. It’s my home town and that’s where I live.

Muslims now occupy the Security and Intelligence Committee of the Federal Government – Christian Elders Forum says

The National Christian Elders Forum NCEF which is an affiliate body of the Christian Association of Nieria CAN, yesterday expressed worry over the fact that more Muslims occupy positions in the Security and Intelligence committee of the Federal government. In a statement signed by the NCEF Chairman, Solomon Asemota and released yesterday, the group alleged that Nigeria is an Islamic state which is contrary to Section 10 of the Nigerian constitution. The Elders in their statement expressed worries over the recent attacks meted on Christians in most parts in the North.
There is a bill now pending before the National Assembly, titled “NGO Regulatory Bill” intended to silence NGO’s including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). It is not in dispute that Nigeria is an Islamic State contrary to Section 10 of the Constitution. What is in dispute is whether Nigeria is ruled by mainstream Muslims or by Islamist Jihadists.
We plead with the Sultan to appreciate that Nigeria is safer and more peaceful when the Government of the Federation or of a State does not adopt any religion as State Religion. It is as a result of the understanding (or lack of it) of civilized Jihad that we are apprehensive of those in the “Security and Intelligence Committee” of the Federal Government by some unexplained reasons are mainly Muslims. President Buhari, (Muslim), Chief of Defense (Christian), Chief of Army Staff, Chief of air Staff, Minister of Defense, Minister of Internal Affairs, Inspector General of Police, National Security Adviser, Director General of DSS are all Muslims from the North. We are not too sure whether the Vice President is a member of this Committee following information that he was once excluded from the meeting the President called.
When the Vice President summoned the same meeting in the absence of President Buhari who was away in the UK, there was resistance and the meeting had to end abruptly. The conclusion which we, Christians, draw is that jihad is being committed against our country, Nigeria, especially when the cohesive instrument of state is in the hands of three ethnic nationalities and one religion. This enlists fear in the minds of the populace, especially Christians”the elders said.
They also condemned the recent arrest and arraignment of Joachim Chinakwe Iroko for naming his dog Buhari. “Chinakwe was picked up again based on Police belief that the suspect’s action was capable of provoking an ethno-religious crisis. Because the complainant and his group have threatened to kill him if he comes back and this may happen.
If Nigeria is being run as a secular State, the Constitution in Sections 10, 37, and 38 guarantees right of private and family life, freedom of Thought, Conscience and Religion that should protect Joe Chinakwe and the Complainant would have been arrested but because Nigeria is an Islamic State, Joe Chinakwe has to face trial in the process promoting; the most effective way to get rid of critics is to instill fear in ordinary Nigerians,” the statement said.

‘I handed over the best Nigerian government to Buhari’ – GEJ says

In a recent statement, former president Jonathan said he handed over the best Nigerian government, and the largest economy in Africa to president Buhari. Read other things he said after the cut…
“I took over a Nigeria that was the second largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $270.5 billion in 2009, I handed over a Nigeria that had grown to become the largest economy in Africa and the 24th largest economy in the World, with a GDP of $574 billion.
I inherited a Nigeria in which the trains were not working, and handed over a Nigeria in which citizens can safely travel by trains again.
I inherited a Nigeria that was a net importer of cement, and handed over a Nigeria that is a net exporter of cement.
In 2009, the richest Nigerian was the 5th richest man in Africa, but I handed over a Nigeria that produced the richest man in Africa.
The former President stated that democracy will continue to grow in the African continent if leaders value the process of elections more than the product of the process.
Even in the 2015 general elections in my country, Nigeria, there was potential for major crisis if I was not a President duly elected by the will of the people.
The campaigns leading to the elections almost polarized the country into Christian vs Muslims and North vs South divide. Most World leaders were worried that our elections will result into major crisis.
Some pundits even from here in the United States said that those elections would spell the end of Nigeria and that we would cease to exist as a nation because of the polls.
That is where the leadership question comes into play. As a leader that was duly elected by the people, I considered the people’s interest first.
How do I manage my people to avoid killings and destruction of properties?
With the interest of the people propelling all the decisions I took, we were able to sail through.
Indeed, we sail through because I refused to interfere with the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having appointed a man I had never met in my life to run it.
My philosophy was simple. For elections to be credible, I as a leader, must value the process more than the product of the process. And the citizens must have confidence in the electoral body”.

John Kerry’s unadulterated Garbage & his new-found friends- by FFK

Read his piece below…
Mr. John Kerry, the American Secretary of State, President Barack Obama’s confidante and Mrs. Hilary Clinton’s successor in office, came to Nigeria the other day.
The first meeting that he had was with the Sultan of Sokoto, who is the supreme leader of the Fulani Caliphate, the spiritual leader of all the Muslims of the north and the man who said, only last week, that “Christians commit wicked acts and crimes against humanity” and that “the wearing of the hijab is the right of every Muslim”.
The second was with the the 19 northern governors, 16 of whom are Muslims.
The third was our Muslim-fanatic and sharia-loving President who has refused to call his kinsmen, the Fulani herdsmen and militants, to order or to arrest and prosecute even one of them for mass murder and genocide.
On the very same day that all this was happening the Islamic Development Bank visited the President and opened their first office in Nigeria.
The government has also quietly put two separate pieces of legislation before the National Assembly for consideration which, if passed, would on the one hand legalise criminal sharia law and on the other give grazing land to the Fulani herdsmen in the Middle Belt and the south.
The Christians of Nigeria should make of all this what they will.
I wonder whether they still “love and trust” the “liberal” Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama?
I wonder if they still believe that Clinton and Obama love ALL Nigerians and not just those that they helped to get into power last year?
Think hard and think deep Christian before it is too late and you are overwhelmed.
Consider the religious war that took place in Lebanon years ago and that is taking place in Syria today.
No-one wants a war because war is the ultimate evil yet the bitter truth must be told.
And that bitter truth is as follows: if the radical salafist and wahhabist Muslim fundamentalists of the core north, with their powerful friends in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Obama’s America push us over the edge and such a war ever happens here, it will be 100 times worse than those two put together. Worse still it will go on from generation to generation.
Do those that wish to Islamise us and wipe out our faith think it would be worth all that?
Are they prepared to pay such a terrible price by trying? The truth is that they are playing with fire.
They are playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun and the single bullet that is in the barrel is about to go off in their faces.
The Bible says that knowledge is power. How many Nigerians know that Egypt and Turkey were once nations which were 100 per cent Christian until they were islamised through the back door?
It took hundreds of years but, slowly and surely and as a consequence of the total acquisition of political power by the Muslims in both of those countries coupled with the continous display of complacency, ignorance, weakness, indolence, fear and cowardice on the part of successive Church leaders and leading members of the Christian community, they were totally and completely islamised.
Today the Christians in both Egypt and Turkey constitute a pitiful and tiny minority: 10 per cent in Egypt and 0.4 per cent in Turkey.
I hope that the new leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as they prepare for their first meeting in Maiduguri, Borno state on the 26th of August, are taking note of all this.
May God forbid that we should ever allow it to happen in Nigeria.
Yet one thing remains clear: the Christians of Nigeria are not like their counterparts that once constituted a majority in Turkey and Egypt. They are much more resilient and they are much stronger. They are also much more capable of defending themselves when pushed to the wall.
Despite consistently turning the other cheek and constantly striving to keep the peace, they are not ignorant, weak, cowardly, complacent, fearful or indolent.
When push comes to shove, unlike the Christians of Egypt and Turkey, they will not go down without a fight.
A word is enough for the wise.
As a graphic reflection of the anger that is slowly building up amongst Christians in the land, Mr. Kingsly Okah, a public commentator, wrote the following on Facebook. He wrote:
“John Kerry came for the Sultan of Sokoto’s birthday and not a state visit. He came to perfect the western seed of discord foisted on us by the ouster of President Goodluck Jonathan. He came to lay credence to the American support of an Islamic agenda in Nigeria. He came to endorse genocide being commited by some reprobate Muslims whose foot soldiers are Fulani herdsnen and their grand patron Buhari”.
To butress the point Mr. Aboki Galadima of the Christian Information Network, which is a powerful and fast-rising Christian platform on the social media, went further by writing the following to it’s members. He wrote:
“This is such a significant event that minority nationalities and Christians all over the country MUST digest and act.
1. John Kerry has just confirmed that spiritually, Nigeria is now an lslamic State.
2. His inspiring attacks on corruption, bad governance and all that stuff are thrilling but only a facade. He and the government of the United States of America are here to divert attention from the real thing.
3.They are pushing the absurd narrative that we should blame past governments, who they claim did not tackle poverty etc., for the rise of lslamic terrorism in the north and that the Sokoto Caliphate has always been the region which provides Nigeria with decent human resources for good governance.
Haba!! Please somebody advise me to halt for now. These diversions should be rejected and resisted. The legality of using lslam to kill and destroy in Nigeria must be challenged. This Network should keep this fight alive and on the front banner of national discourse”.
Both Mr. Okah and Mr. Galadima have spoken the minds of many in the Christian community. It would be most unwise for those that are now in power and their misguided friends and suporters to ignore them, attempt to silence them or to dismiss their concerns with the usual, insults, arrogance and contempt.
I say this because there can be little doubt that Mr. John Kerry spoke nothing but unadulterated garbage.
Permit me to end this contribution with the following.
Mr. Jude Chijoke Ndukwe, a writer, a public affairs analyst and one of the most courageous and formidable intellectuals of the new generation of Nigerian leaders captured the mood rather well when he wrote the following in a powerful contribution a few days ago. He wrote:
“A man named his dog ‘Buhari’, he was promptly arrested and prosecuted. 8 people are killed in Zamfara by Islamic fundamentalists, as usual no single arrest is made.
Unless leaders of the Hausa-Fulani core north change their ways and mentality about religion, education, girl-child and women’s rights etc, their region will remain Nigeria’s most impoverished, most illiterate, most diseased, most malnourished and most backward even if Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, Theresa May, John Kerry, Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton et al visit the Sultan on a daily basis”.
Mr. Ndukwe has spoken the gospel truth. Let he who has ears hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying. Shalom.
