‘I handed over the best Nigerian government to Buhari’ – GEJ says

In a recent statement, former president Jonathan said he handed over the best Nigerian government, and the largest economy in Africa to president Buhari. Read other things he said after the cut…
“I took over a Nigeria that was the second largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $270.5 billion in 2009, I handed over a Nigeria that had grown to become the largest economy in Africa and the 24th largest economy in the World, with a GDP of $574 billion.
I inherited a Nigeria in which the trains were not working, and handed over a Nigeria in which citizens can safely travel by trains again.
I inherited a Nigeria that was a net importer of cement, and handed over a Nigeria that is a net exporter of cement.
In 2009, the richest Nigerian was the 5th richest man in Africa, but I handed over a Nigeria that produced the richest man in Africa.
The former President stated that democracy will continue to grow in the African continent if leaders value the process of elections more than the product of the process.
Even in the 2015 general elections in my country, Nigeria, there was potential for major crisis if I was not a President duly elected by the will of the people.
The campaigns leading to the elections almost polarized the country into Christian vs Muslims and North vs South divide. Most World leaders were worried that our elections will result into major crisis.
Some pundits even from here in the United States said that those elections would spell the end of Nigeria and that we would cease to exist as a nation because of the polls.
That is where the leadership question comes into play. As a leader that was duly elected by the people, I considered the people’s interest first.
How do I manage my people to avoid killings and destruction of properties?
With the interest of the people propelling all the decisions I took, we were able to sail through.
Indeed, we sail through because I refused to interfere with the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having appointed a man I had never met in my life to run it.
My philosophy was simple. For elections to be credible, I as a leader, must value the process more than the product of the process. And the citizens must have confidence in the electoral body”.

John Kerry’s unadulterated Garbage & his new-found friends- by FFK

Read his piece below…
Mr. John Kerry, the American Secretary of State, President Barack Obama’s confidante and Mrs. Hilary Clinton’s successor in office, came to Nigeria the other day.
The first meeting that he had was with the Sultan of Sokoto, who is the supreme leader of the Fulani Caliphate, the spiritual leader of all the Muslims of the north and the man who said, only last week, that “Christians commit wicked acts and crimes against humanity” and that “the wearing of the hijab is the right of every Muslim”.
The second was with the the 19 northern governors, 16 of whom are Muslims.
The third was our Muslim-fanatic and sharia-loving President who has refused to call his kinsmen, the Fulani herdsmen and militants, to order or to arrest and prosecute even one of them for mass murder and genocide.
On the very same day that all this was happening the Islamic Development Bank visited the President and opened their first office in Nigeria.
The government has also quietly put two separate pieces of legislation before the National Assembly for consideration which, if passed, would on the one hand legalise criminal sharia law and on the other give grazing land to the Fulani herdsmen in the Middle Belt and the south.
The Christians of Nigeria should make of all this what they will.
I wonder whether they still “love and trust” the “liberal” Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama?
I wonder if they still believe that Clinton and Obama love ALL Nigerians and not just those that they helped to get into power last year?
Think hard and think deep Christian before it is too late and you are overwhelmed.
Consider the religious war that took place in Lebanon years ago and that is taking place in Syria today.
No-one wants a war because war is the ultimate evil yet the bitter truth must be told.
And that bitter truth is as follows: if the radical salafist and wahhabist Muslim fundamentalists of the core north, with their powerful friends in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Obama’s America push us over the edge and such a war ever happens here, it will be 100 times worse than those two put together. Worse still it will go on from generation to generation.
Do those that wish to Islamise us and wipe out our faith think it would be worth all that?
Are they prepared to pay such a terrible price by trying? The truth is that they are playing with fire.
They are playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun and the single bullet that is in the barrel is about to go off in their faces.
The Bible says that knowledge is power. How many Nigerians know that Egypt and Turkey were once nations which were 100 per cent Christian until they were islamised through the back door?
It took hundreds of years but, slowly and surely and as a consequence of the total acquisition of political power by the Muslims in both of those countries coupled with the continous display of complacency, ignorance, weakness, indolence, fear and cowardice on the part of successive Church leaders and leading members of the Christian community, they were totally and completely islamised.
Today the Christians in both Egypt and Turkey constitute a pitiful and tiny minority: 10 per cent in Egypt and 0.4 per cent in Turkey.
I hope that the new leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as they prepare for their first meeting in Maiduguri, Borno state on the 26th of August, are taking note of all this.
May God forbid that we should ever allow it to happen in Nigeria.
Yet one thing remains clear: the Christians of Nigeria are not like their counterparts that once constituted a majority in Turkey and Egypt. They are much more resilient and they are much stronger. They are also much more capable of defending themselves when pushed to the wall.
Despite consistently turning the other cheek and constantly striving to keep the peace, they are not ignorant, weak, cowardly, complacent, fearful or indolent.
When push comes to shove, unlike the Christians of Egypt and Turkey, they will not go down without a fight.
A word is enough for the wise.
As a graphic reflection of the anger that is slowly building up amongst Christians in the land, Mr. Kingsly Okah, a public commentator, wrote the following on Facebook. He wrote:
“John Kerry came for the Sultan of Sokoto’s birthday and not a state visit. He came to perfect the western seed of discord foisted on us by the ouster of President Goodluck Jonathan. He came to lay credence to the American support of an Islamic agenda in Nigeria. He came to endorse genocide being commited by some reprobate Muslims whose foot soldiers are Fulani herdsnen and their grand patron Buhari”.
To butress the point Mr. Aboki Galadima of the Christian Information Network, which is a powerful and fast-rising Christian platform on the social media, went further by writing the following to it’s members. He wrote:
“This is such a significant event that minority nationalities and Christians all over the country MUST digest and act.
1. John Kerry has just confirmed that spiritually, Nigeria is now an lslamic State.
2. His inspiring attacks on corruption, bad governance and all that stuff are thrilling but only a facade. He and the government of the United States of America are here to divert attention from the real thing.
3.They are pushing the absurd narrative that we should blame past governments, who they claim did not tackle poverty etc., for the rise of lslamic terrorism in the north and that the Sokoto Caliphate has always been the region which provides Nigeria with decent human resources for good governance.
Haba!! Please somebody advise me to halt for now. These diversions should be rejected and resisted. The legality of using lslam to kill and destroy in Nigeria must be challenged. This Network should keep this fight alive and on the front banner of national discourse”.
Both Mr. Okah and Mr. Galadima have spoken the minds of many in the Christian community. It would be most unwise for those that are now in power and their misguided friends and suporters to ignore them, attempt to silence them or to dismiss their concerns with the usual, insults, arrogance and contempt.
I say this because there can be little doubt that Mr. John Kerry spoke nothing but unadulterated garbage.
Permit me to end this contribution with the following.
Mr. Jude Chijoke Ndukwe, a writer, a public affairs analyst and one of the most courageous and formidable intellectuals of the new generation of Nigerian leaders captured the mood rather well when he wrote the following in a powerful contribution a few days ago. He wrote:
“A man named his dog ‘Buhari’, he was promptly arrested and prosecuted. 8 people are killed in Zamfara by Islamic fundamentalists, as usual no single arrest is made.
Unless leaders of the Hausa-Fulani core north change their ways and mentality about religion, education, girl-child and women’s rights etc, their region will remain Nigeria’s most impoverished, most illiterate, most diseased, most malnourished and most backward even if Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Vladimir Putin, Theresa May, John Kerry, Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton et al visit the Sultan on a daily basis”.
Mr. Ndukwe has spoken the gospel truth. Let he who has ears hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying. Shalom.

Niger Delta Avengers accuses Army troops of crude oil thefts

According to Militant group Niger Delta Avengers, they have video and pictorial evidence that show troops of the “Operation Delta Safe force”, which was activated on June 24 with the mandate to stop all illegal oil bunkering activity, involvement in thefts. They also condemned security reports linking their militant forces to the killing of military troops. The statement read;
“The High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers condemns the entire security reports linking our forces to the killing of military troops in Nembe Bayelsa state. NDA still wonders when this charade and acts of desperation of the Nigeria military by always linking crimes in the southern part of Nigeria to our fighters will stop. It is a shame that Operations Delta Safe is still employing the old habits of deliberately dinning and wining with unaudited intelligence from political thugs, political paymasters and enemies of the Niger Delta to perpetuate their continuous funding and relevance by catching in on the hunger in the land. One question for the commander of Operation Delta Safe! Who are the people perpetuating the ongoing illegal oil bunkerings in the Niger Delta at the moment? Because we have both video and pictorial evidences of your troops serious involvement in the pervasive crude oil thefts. We have records of how much profit you collect and make per day from these atrocities in the Niger Delta.
To set the records straight, we cannot come after your Dane guns and ammunitions. Since the start of ” Operation Red Economy” our forces did not fire one shot until we have achieved this great success of crippling crude oil productions in the Niger Delta to about 800,000 barrels per day. Those gangs members paraded as killers of troops of ODS are well known followers of Mr Africa Ukparasai and Mr Timipre Silva, that were purposefully armed by the APC during the governorship elections of Bayelsa state… If your forces and formations comes under attack by notorious elements of your own political collaborators and calculations you should accept it as a friendly fire ( from your own dubious creations getting loosed and fighting back to protect their territories and bellies) and enjoy it whilst it last! excuse the NDA from your ” Pig and Mud squabbles”
Yesterday was Arepo in Ogun state, today is Nembe in Bayelsa state where is the next state you want to involve the NDA in this your bread and butter security conspiracies and collaborations ? Please count us of your incapacities and blackmails. Is this not the Operation Delta Safe that is the puppet and child of necessity of some jail Birds and political shenanigans like Charles Okah’s MEND and RNDA? We the NDA and Niger Delta People knows that you are not to here to protect anything in the region rather you have come to perpetuate more crude oil thefts that is worst. As such, we have avoided everything that will justify your continuous stay and sour your illicit funds . Just a moment, in our reality checks, from Operation Hakuri two, Operation Restore Hope, Operation Pulo Shield and today Operation Delta Safe your formations and troops have always being the merchants of illegal oil bunkering activities in our Niger Delta. Your outfits in most cases deliberately trigger killings and kidnappings to make your services relevant.
Conclusively, we want to ask if it is best practices for heads of military formations in the Niger Delta to become super rich months after been deployment, acquiring properties locally/internationally? it is our wish that, one day governments of Nigeria can think right and redirect these huge resources used to fund these your illicit and infamous outfits to achieving especially some of the short term development frameworks in the Niger Delta to the de-escalation of the perennial traumas the people are passing throughout the region.”

Dog name palava: Pres. Buhari must be having a good laugh- Garba Shehu

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, says President Buhari must be having a good laugh over the arrest and trial of Chinakwe Joachim Iroko who named his dog Buhari. Read what Garba shared on his facebook wall below…
garba-on-dog-named-buhari
‘I am thinking of saying, using my own handle that people linking the President to this dog incident are just displaying their ignorance of the type of person he is. He enjoys cartoons and likes sharing them. The ones he enjoys the most are those that caricature him. It is cheap and sensational to say he can order a police action against a caricature. When he picks a paper, the first page he reaches for is the cartoon page. He laughs and laughs. The President must be having a good laugh over this whole thing. People should listen to the real story behind this dog incident and to not waste precious time seeking the hand of the President in a laughable incident!’

‘What I told EFCC about Diezani’ – Dauda Lawal

The Executive Director in charge of Public Sector at First Bank, MallamDaudaLawal, has revealed what he told the Economic and Financial Crime Commission when he was detained sometimes ago.
Lawal, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, said that he was actually questioned about his relationship with a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs.Diezani Alison-Madueke.
He said it was true that his “name has featured prominently in the EFCC investigations of Mrs.Deziani Allison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources under the government of President Goodluck Jonathan”.
Lawal also said he was “questioned by the EFCC over his alleged role or complicity in the alleged $25m acquisition of the Le Meridien Hotel in Port Harcourt.”
He, however, denied the allegation that the former minister channelled the funds for the purchase of the property through him.
Lawal said,
“This allegation is malicious and without substance in any material particular. It must be stated clearly that Lawal is completely oblivious of the ownership status of the said hotel neither is he directly or remotely aware of any transaction involving the former Minister on this hotel.”
He said the allegation must have been fuelled by his close association with Allison-Madueke, which “is based purely on professional pursuits”.
He added,
“As the Executive Director in charge of Public sector of the bank, it is incumbent on him to build the necessary bridges to attract all the benefits the bank can muster from the financial operations of the public sector.
“For the purpose of emphasis, MallamLawalDauda has never been a conduit for movement of illicit funds neither has he been involved in the purchase of any hotel either here or elsewhere. This much was told to the EFCC during his interrogation.”
He added that,
“The former minister, given the influence she wielded within the government and operations in the oil sector was certainly an asset to any corporate Organisation, especially the banks.
All the banks in Nigeria and abroad actively sought to have banking relationships with her because she sat atop a sector which is the prime revenue spinner for the country. It is to Mr.Lawal’s credit that the First Bank group participated actively in offering financial services to the oil industry under Madueke.

Soludo Proffers Solution To Nigeria’s Economic Challenges

Charles Soludo-Yemi OsinbajoA former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has called for a coalition of economic policies that can deal with desperate socio-economic issues in a systematic and sustainable manner for the country to overcome its present challenges.
The former CBN Governor stated this in his lecture at the Progressive Governors Forum’s 4th‎ progressive governance lecture series in Kaduna State on Thursday.
According to him, the crash in the oil prices is a blessing for Nigeria to start a new beginning and a clarion call to press the restart button and begin afresh.
Delivering a lecture titled; “Building the Economy of States: Challenges of Developing Inclusively Sustainable Growth”, Mr. Soludo said, Nigeria at the moment, is dealing with political, economic and social shocks.
He stressed that growth in Nigeria and states will not be inclusive if we don’t break the dynasties of poverty and maximize the comparative and competitive ‎advantages.
He noted that no state can develop sustainably if the overall governance and economy are in crisis, adding that the Nigerian economy in terms of dollar, has collapsed by about 50 percent.
“Nigeria is facing unprecedented and tremendous political and economical challenges with global and local dynamics. Regardless of these challenges, opportunities and possibilities abound if we address some fundamental issues. The key to achieving this is to have a development plan that is anchored on realizing inclusive and sustainable growth.
“Inclusive and Sustainable growth cannot be achieved without conscious efforts to deconstruct the dynasties of poverty and maximize states and Nigeria’s comparative and competitive advantage.
“Nigeria is not secured and made politically sustainable especially through the de-strangulation of the hold of the federal government over states”.
Prof. Soludo, therefore, recommended the restructuring of the economy from consumption driven to production based and consistency in micro economic policies.
“‎Encouraging fiscal federalism in ways that allow states to have greater control of their resources, evolution of a master plan for mass export oriented industrialization that answers the economic questions and realities of today.
“APC developing over-arching vision of Nigeria without Oil and‎ there should be a coalition of economic policies that can deals with disparate socio-economic issues in a systematic and sustainable manner;
“APC States must develop a peer review mechanism to track, measure and share knowledge and experience in order to achieve shared values that will distinguish APC states from non APC states.
“There is need for communication strategy that effectively communicates change in a forward looking and inspiring manner for the citizenry. This is important for building consensus for development, and‎ there should be a coordinating mechanism for developing the 2017 budget”, Soludo said.

Economy: Giving Buhari Emergency Powers Will Lead To Tyranny – DPC

PMB-FECThe Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) has warned against giving President Muhammadu Buhari emergency powers ‎to tackle economic issues, saying it would lead to tyranny and autocracy.
This is just as it called for the immediate sack of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, claiming that “they are clueless” on effective strategies to revamp the economy.
The party made the call in a statement issued yesterday by ‎its national chairman, Reverend Olusegun Peters.
According to Peters, since ‎Buhari did not seek for extra powers to crush the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-east, he does not need such powers to revamp the economy.
“These are exactly the economic issues Nigerians voted President Buhari to effectively tackle with the executive powers conferred on him in the 1999 constitution as amended”, he said.

North Korea Celebrates Missile Launch With Dance Party

North Korea celebrated its “Military First” holiday and the recent success of its ballistic missile testing with mass dances and a series of outdoor concerts in Pyongyang.
The “Military First” holiday celebrates the anniversary of the Songun policy introduced by Kim Jong-un’s father, Kim Jong-il, in 1960, which gave primacy to the North Korean army in state politics and funding.
State television broadcasts and newspaper front pages hailed the submarine-launched missile, which represented a giant leap in North Korean military technology.
In response, traditional mass dancing demonstrations were held across the country, the biggest taking place in the capital’s Kim Il-sung Square.
