Many
Nigerians on Wednesday overwhelmingly backed the Enugu Catholic priest
and Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu State, Rev. Fr.
Ejike Mbaka, for his

to President Muhammadu Buhari.
On Tuesday, the respected cleric shocked many when he said that
Nigerians would not vote for Buhari in 2019 unless the President
addressed the challenges facing the county.
In the message that is currently trending, Mbaka said there was too much
suffering in the country and faulted the President for not appointing
the right persons.
He said,
“There is hunger everywhere. Landlords are crying; tenants are
lamenting, sellers are crying, buyers are lamenting – there is hunger on
the streets. I can’t keep quiet when things are going wrong.
“I am telling the President to look around him and know those who are
advising him rightly and those who are telling him that there is no
trouble. The President should know that there is trouble. If things
continue like this, in the next election, nobody will vote for him.”
A former governor of old Kaduna State, Baralabe Musa, on Wednesday said Mbaka’s message stated the obvious.
Musa, who spoke with a Punch correspondent on the telephone, said the
President could only win the 2019 election through rigging, which he
said would plunge the country into crisis.
He said, “If the challenges facing Nigeria are not addressed, Buhari
will lose in 2019 except he rigs the election. And that will be
dangerous for the country.”
Another northern leader, Yerima Shettima, said the President was fast
losing the goodwill that gave him electoral victory last year. He noted
that the Buhari administration had lost focus, which had led to abject
poverty and suffering for Nigerians.
Shettima, who is the President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum,
said the President shunned the counsel of honest Nigerians at the risk
of his goodwill and future electoral value.
He said,
“The level of poverty is extremely high and it is worsening. People
have advised him, but he refused to heed good counsel. His goodwill has
nosedived.
“What we have seen is different from the expectations of the masses.
People sacrificed so much to ensure that he emerged victorious at the
poll. But what we have seen is appalling. Personally, I have stopped
advising him because he does not listen.”
The National President, Ohaneze Youth Council, Mr. Okechukwu Isiguzoro,
told our correspondent that Mbaka spoke the minds of the people in the
eastern part of Nigeria.
“I don’t know what the South-West and the North think; but Mbaka’s
statement is the voice of the Igbo. The reality is everywhere. There is
suffering everywhere; people struggle to feed. There is hunger in the
land because of the President’s poor handling of the economy,” he added.
A Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist, Liborous Oshoma,
compared the waning goodwill of Buhari to the challenge ex-President
Jonathan faced, leading to his loss to Buhari in 2015.
Oshoma said, “What Mbaka said is the reality. People who overwhelmingly
cast their votes for Buhari last year are beginning to have a rethink.
People saw him as the messiah Nigerians had long waited for. However,
what we have seen is not what we expected.
“We should not forget that Jonathan had a similar support in 2011, but
he blew it. Now, Buhari is gradually blowing away his. If he does not
address the current challenges, even his party, the All Progressives
Congress, may pay for his inaction.”
Mbaka’s bold message also provided an opportunity for Buhari’s opponents at the poll to assess his administrative style.
For instance, Remi Sonaiya, who contested on the platform of the KOWA
Party, said a natural democrat could have managed the challenges
confronting the country better.
She said, “There is no doubt that there are general problems. Part of
the issues people have raised about the President is that he does not
react quickly to issues, and that his military background is affecting
him.
“Perhaps, somebody with a different background could have handled the
issues differently and better. The President has just put together an
economic team. One wonders why it took him over a year to do that.”

Suge Knight allegedly tried to have Eminem killed in 2001
A former bodyguard of Eminem claims that Suge Knight tried to have the Detroit rapper killed in 2001.
In an interview with “Murder Master Music Show,” Eminem’s former bodyguard Byron “Big Naz” Williams allegedly had to “snatch” the star up before an argument with Knight’s crew escalated further at the Source Awards 15 years ago.
“I noticed that, in the middle of the aisle, he’s beefing with all these guys in red shirts,” Williams recalled. “I noticed his face changing, and he’s turning like, tomato-red. And there’s a sea of red guys around him … I had to bust through the middle and snatch him up.”
Williams, along with Dr. Dre’s bodyguards, was able to whisk Eminem away.
We were in beast mode the whole time,” he said.
Afterwards, Williams spoke to the people Eminem almost came to blows with and discovered they were representing Death Row Records and label boss Knight.
The scuffle was allowed to almost happen in the first place because of the seating arrangements at the Source Awards.
“Bodyguards couldn’t sit with the artists,” Williams said. “I think that was by design ’cause I think they really wanted the artists to be able to network with each other, but it also gives people who got beef with other artists to get at them.”

8 officers Detained Over Killing Of Two Persons In Nasarawa
The Nigeria Police Force said it has detained eight of his officers in Nasarawa State over the killings of 2 persons during the recent workers protest to the government house over 50% salary cut.
Mr Bello said the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department at the Police headquarters for full investigation.
He said that the doctor, who conducted autopsy on the two victims “said that one died from injuries sustained from hard object while the other died from a pellet”.
The commissioner, however, said that the pellet extracted from the deceased did not match the gun used by policemen stationed at the Government House gate.
It would be recalled that the NLC president was in Nasarawa on Friday to hold talks with the state government over the protracted industrial dispute in the state.
Waba told newsmen in Lafia that unknown policemen shot four workers at the gate of the government house, while they were awaiting the outcome of the NLC meeting with Gov. Umaru Al-Makura.
He said that one of the shot workers died instantly, while another died later at the National Hospital in Abuja where he was referred to for further treatment.
Workers in the state had embarked on an indefinite strike following the decision of the state government to slash their salaries by 50 percent

How I Transferred N1.2bn From Obanikoro Son’s Account – Bank Staff
Fajuyitan made this revelation in his statement at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s office, Punch reports.
The EFCC had invited the banker for questioning as part of investigations into the N4.7bn that was allegedly paid into Obanikoro’s son’s account by the Office of the National Security Adviser in June 2014.
He said the money was paid into the account named, Sylvan McNamara, with number 0026223714.
The account has since been frozen by the anti-graft agency.
Fajuyitan also told detectives that on June 16, 2014, he was given an instruction by the bank’s Head of Operations, Mr. Premier Oiwoh, to transfer N1.2bn to some accounts.
He said, “On June 16, 2014, my boss, Premier Oiwoh, told me to do a transaction for Sylvan McNamara. The instruction was for the payment of N1.2bn.
“The customer’s physical instruction was that its account number, 0026223714, be debited with N1.2bn and pay the following people: Saturaki Bello, N200m; Yusuf Bulama, N120m; Chimenum Njoku, N250m; Franklin Tolani, N150m; Josiah Moses, N280; and Abubakar Sadiq Zanna, N200m.
“My supervisor (Oiwoh) asked me to provide the funds for the Cash-In-Transit unit for onward payment to the beneficiaries.”
It was gathered that the cash, which was originally released for the six beneficiaries, was handed over to Gbolahan under the pretence that the six persons could not be located.
Damola Otuyalo, the Head of Cash-in-Transit Services, had told the EFCC that after receiving the money from the treasury unit, he was unable to pay the six beneficiaries the money and his director (Oiwoh) then instructed him to move the N1.2bn to the private wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos on June 17.
Otuyalo had said, “The beneficiaries were not available to be paid as I did not see them and I was later directed by Mr. Premier Oiwoh to move the money to the airport where I will be given further instruction.
“We moved the cash to the airport through the Cash-In-Transit vendor, Bankers Warehouse Limited. I contacted the vendor who made the bullion van available for movement. I personally supervised the loading of the money into the bullion van and escorted them to the airport.”

FG Resumes Payment To Ex-Militants
The Federal Government have resumed the delayed payments to former militants in the oil-rich Niger River delta, addressing some grievances amid attacks that cut crude production close to a 30-year low.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has also said it is trying to engage militants to establish a cease-fire after oil output fell to 1.4 million barrels a day, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Emmanuel Kachikwu said on Monday.
Following several years of relative calm, the attacks by the Delta Avengers started in February after president Buhari announced the suspension of security contracts and payments that had turned earlier militants into protectors.
Boroh said he had given assurance to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta militants that their patience was appreciated by President Muhammadu Buhari, who backs the amnesty and plans to invest heavily in the region.
The amnesty program is set to end in 2017 and the government earlier this year said it planned to cut financing by half to about $100 million.
