President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigerian youths to
shun any acts of violence, thuggery and other negative vices that might
hamper the 2015 general election.
President Goodluck Jonathan Speaking
at the second convocation of the Nigerian Turkish Nile University,
Abuja in where Governor Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe State and the Director
General, State Security Service, Ekpeyong Ita, were awarded honorary
doctorate degrees on Saturday, urged Nigerians to vote for credible
candidates with proven ability for leadership.
"I would like to point out especially to our youths that the general
elections are fast approaching, this calls for responsible engagement
and participation" Jonathan said. "While encouraging you to vote for
credible candidates of your choice, I urge you to shun all invitations
to political thuggery or acts that can undermine free, fair and credible
elections."
The president, who was represented by Suleiman Bagoro, the Executive
Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, reiterated the Federal
Government determination in winning the war against insurgency, and
noted that terrorism was planned to mar the country’s peaceful
co-existence.
"These are trying times for our country, occasioned by the challenge
of terrorism. Innocent lives are being wasted by some people who have
chosen to undermine our cohesiveness as a people" he said. "They will
not succeed, we are determined to win this war and win back peace which
is prerequisite for our development".
He added that efforts were being made to stop the inequality between
Bachelor’s degree holders and Higher National Diploma certificate
holders in the public service, and went ahead to lament the
over-dependence on paper qualification. He said the crux of his
administration was to address the challenges facing the education
sector.
"Our aim in government is to
address comprehensively, the challenges facing the education sector. We
must move the focus from the mere acquisition of certificates to the
development and application of skills for which individual students are
best suited" he said.
Responding, Ita, while commending the institution for the award
pointed out that the challenge of nation building could only be made
easier if tertiary institutions produced graduates that were
academically and morally sound.
"This will most definitely redefine character, norms and the
socio-cultural belief system of the society to one that is positively
and progressively oriented for the growth, peace and development of the
nation" Ita said.
Huseyin Sert, the Vice-Chancellor of the university in his remark
said that the institution was aimed at enhancing bilateral relation
between both countries, and noted that all the courses offered by the
university have been accredited by the National Universities Commission,
NUC.

He said prior to the arrest of the suspects, residents of the area had filed complaints with the police that a group of young men in the house had been harassing them in the night.
Among items police retrieved from the Nigerians were eight laptops and a search on them led to the retrieval of a number of forged documents from state institutions.
Some of the forged documents are ones from the Office of the President, the High Court, the Ghana Police Service, the Value Added Tax division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, among other institutions.
The police chief said the suspects used the documents to facilitate illegal electronic transaction and lure people to part with money.

Ekiti Elections: Oshiomhole Doubts Jonathan Gave Order To Bar APC Governors
The governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has said he does
not believe it was President Jonathan who gave the order for some APC
leaders to be barred from getting to Ekiti to attend the party's
campaign for Fayemi.
Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole
Speaking on Saturday, on a Channels Television program, Gov. Oshiomhole described the incident as very embarrassing as his presence in Ekiti will not change the results of the elections, while adding that it was the handiwork of overzealous persons who think they are helping the president and his party.
"It may not be coming from what everybody regards as above because the man in charge of this Nigeria project today, who is in the driver’s seat, is the President.
"I do not think that President Jonathan will order anybody to prevent people from going to campaign. But you have people who think they love the ruling party more than the chief of the party," the governor said.
According to Oshiomhole he had the right to go to any part of Nigeria, but if he as a governor, could be treated in such manner, “it reduces the country to something close to a banana republic”.
The APC had released a statement on Thursday, claiming that Mr. Kwankwaso and two other APC governors, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, were barred from getting to Ekiti where they were going to attend the final campaign rally of Governor Kayode Fayemi in Ekiti.
The APC also accused PDP of turning Ekiti state into a war zone by the number of military men they brought in for the election, adding that such acts showed the presidency was not committed to a free and fair democracy while also warning that they would not accept the outcome of the election which has already been marred.

'My Greatest Regret Is That I Am Not Lagbaja!' -Don Jazzy Speaks Out!.
Popular Nigerian finest and highly sought after Number one music producer in Nigeria, Michael Collins Ajaere, Popular known as ‘Don Jazzy’, has shared his pains of being a celebrity.
For the 32 years old Abia State-born music guru, having a successful career wants people to know his work and love his work.
But according to him, he claims he doesn’t like the fact that he can’t step out and be himself, citing instances like wearing his ‘own’ pyjamas on him and not getting people complaining about it.
He went on to say that there are a lot of things he craves to do as a normal human and feels right to do, which to him is human rights, and doesn’t see any reason to reduce basically his own rights as a human, just as lots of people have that freedom to go on social media and say whatever they feel like they want to say, but the reverse is the case for him, without him been attacked.
For the celebrity model, gifted singer and Mavin records CEO and Chief, the best idea ever is the ‘lagbaja’ (face-masked). As when he (lagbaja) is wearing his mask, he is lagbaja, and when he is not wearing it, the public eye doesn’t know who he is. Don Jazzy bwent on to laud the Nigerian afro beat musician’s face-masked concept.
Don Jazzy claims he maintains a dual and split personality due to his career, which is Michael Collins for when he isn’t seen around or spotted with a walking stick and Don Jazzy when he is with the stick.
The Nigerian superstar wished he came up with that concept first, as he can’t step outside and do whatever he pleases.

They come across s*xy. Their smile can ever melt a heart of stone. Quite endowed, a little flaunt can leave you reeling with desire. But these alone did not endear them to their teeming admirers.
They had their moments and they made it count! From working round the clock to lean account balance, these female celebrities are now household names. They’ve found the ir way to the top. Yes. But they did not fly into it.
Let us take a look at how some of our much loved divas got their fame;
Tiwa Savage
Her Wanted video may have been greeted with mixed feelings, but she has certainly flaunted it! Three years ago, she dare not. Her work with international acts abroad does not guarantee success in Nigeria. Introducing herself to Nigerian music lovers, her presence was first felt with Kele Kele love and Love me. But her moment would not come until she featured star producer, Don Jazzy, on that heartfelt hit, Don’t Leave without My Heart. Tiwa has since gone up to continue singing for us with her heart.
Eva Alordiah
Eva could win any man’s love. Any day. With a glowing beauty, heads are easily turned. An abundance of talent, Eva is not just a singer. No. She doubles as a writer, rapper, model, dancer, makeup artist, song writer and hustler too. And it takes a lot of steam and hard work to pull all these through. However, her moment came calling when she voiced over Lil Wayne’s A Millie instrumental. That experiment paid off. Eva has since built on that.
Chidinma
Petite, charming and stunning, Chidinma has shown that small can be s*xy too. A songbird, Chidinma quest for success led her into the church choir. There, she waited for her moment. It came. MTN Project Fame in 2010 was all she needed. She emerged from the singing competition with the ultimate prize. She has since grown in bounds. She may be enjoying the spotlight, but that has come with a lot of hard work.
Omawumi
Her strong voice can steer a change. Omawumi had an early start. But she was almost ignored. However, her moment came in West Africa Idols in 2009. She sang her heart out and finished first runner up in that contest. Since her debut single, In the Music, Omawumi has not slowed down.
Waje
Her Fly with the Eagles collaboration may be making waves, but it may be hard to take your eyes off the lady behind the voice. A rare talent, her vocal range covers three octaves. But it was not all boom for her. She may have featured in several hits including P square’s Do Me, Banky W’s Thief My Kele and MI’s One naira, but it was her single So Inspired that made her path straight. A workaholic, she recently confessed of having little or no time for her flocking male admirers.
